The Academy of Experts and Foil will be running a joint event in Belfast aimed at existing experts and professionals from any discipline who are considering becoming expert witnesses. It will give a practical insight into what courts and instructing lawyers expect from expert witnesses, with guidance on duties to the court, working effectively with legal teams, setting clear terms of engagement and using AI appropriately in expert work
- Delegates will hear from a Presiding High Court Judge on judicial expectations and the duties of expert witnesses to the court.
- An expert speaker will then address the practical aspects of expert witness work, including relationships with instructing lawyers, terms and conditions, and the appropriate use of AI tools.
- The event will conclude with a panel discussion offering both legal professional and expert witness perspectives on their respective roles in litigation.
There will also be opportunities for discussion and networking.
The Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) is a professional membership organisation representing those engaged in the defence of insurance-related claims. Their members act for insurers, self-insured companies and all authorities in the public and private sectors.
