Event Type

Expert evidence plays a central role in many proceedings before the Competition Appeal Tribunal, where complex questions of economics, valuation, accounting, technology and market behaviour can be critical to the issues the Tribunal has to determine.

This session will examine the particular approach taken to expert evidence in the CAT, including the Tribunal’s expectations of experts, the preparation and presentation of expert evidence, interaction between opposing experts and the practical issues that can arise during proceedings.

With the introduction of the CAT’s dedicated Practice Direction on Expert Evidence, the session will also consider how the Tribunal’s approach is developing and what those acting as experts, or instructing them, need to know.
