DESCRIPTION:From ‘expert-led’ proceedings to a ‘cartel of misbehaviou
 r’: the evolving treatment of\, and expectations for\, expert evidence b
 y the Competition Appeal Tribunal\nExpert evidence plays a central role in
  many proceedings before the Competition Appeal Tribunal\, where complex q
 uestions of economics\, valuation\, accounting\, technology and market beh
 aviour can be critical to the issues the Tribunal has to determine.\n\nThi
 s session will examine the particular approach taken to expert evidence in
  the CAT\, including the Tribunal’s expectations of experts\, the prepar
 ation and presentation of expert evidence\, interaction between opposing e
 xperts and the practical issues that can arise during proceedings.\n\nIt w
 ill also consider and discuss the evolving treatment of expert evidence\, 
 from at one point requiring a more “expert-led” process to complaints 
 about too much expert involvement and the new dedicated Practice Direction
  on Expert Evidence. \n\nThe session will address how the Tribunal’s ap
 proach is developing and what those acting as experts\, or instructing the
 m\, need to know.\nNetworking\nAfter the meeting we will retire to the Gra
 y's Inn Bar.
