Please note that in addition to the eligibility requirements shown below the Candidate, the Proposer and the Seconder must all be fully paid up members.

Eligibility:
The rules regarding eligibility to stand for office are set down in the Academy’s Constitution and Standing Orders are as follows:
Officer (Standing Orders Section 5 – Executive Officers)
1.3 The Executive Officers, other than the Vice Chairmen appointed under Clause 1.2, may be nominated from amongst the individual Members by any two Members of The Academy in accordance with the procedure outlined in Clause 1.4 below and must be elected at an Annual General Meeting. No Member shall be elected as such an Officer unless that Member has been a Member of the Council of The Academy for at least 11 months and attended at least two meetings of Council by the date of the Annual General Meeting at which he is to be elected.
1.4 Executive Officers shall be elected by postal ballot of all members. Members entitled to vote at General meetings in accordance with SO4 (General Meetings) 1.6 shall be entitled to vote in the ballot for Executive Officers.
1.5 All nominations for Executive Officers must be in writing and signed by a proposer and seconder and countersigned by the nominee expressing his willingness to stand for Election and received by the Secretary 42 days before the Annual General Meeting.
Member of Council (Standing Orders Section 6 – Council)
2.1 The following are eligible to stand as candidates for election as Elected Members, and to propose or second any candidate:
(a) Fellows
(b) Full Members
(c) Qualified Dispute Resolvers
(d) Legal Members
(e) Associate members entitled to use AMAE
(f) Companions
(g) The nominated representative of a Corporate Member.
2.2 Elected Members shall be elected by postal ballot of all members. Members entitled to vote at General meetings in accordance with SO 4 (General Meetings) 1.6 shall be entitled to vote in the ballot for Council Members.
2.3 All nominations for Elected Member must be in writing and must be signed by the proposer and seconder and counter-signed by the candidate expressing his willingness to stand for election. The completed nomination must be submitted to the Secretary at least 42 days before the date of the Annual General Meeting. Council may from time to time impose voting restrictions in order to ensure the multi-disciplinary nature of TAE is reflected in the governing body.
