[Brief_CV2] => My career in boat construction commenced when I was eight.
My father had bought a near wrecked dinghy and had been let down by a shipwright . My father undertook the restoration and I watched and soon became familiar with copper bat nails roves and dollie.
When I was 12 my father built me a (then) YW Cadet once again I was familiarised with the importance of the accuracy of framing setting up etc.
When I was 20 I built by myself from scratch in glued plywood clinker.
I graduated into cruiser racing and had the ambition to build my own boat. And built from a bare hull of a Trapper 28 .
I then built a Bruce Farr half Tonner from scratch
I have the feeling of a doctor now when I see my "Patients" whom I have surveyed out on the water. I sometimes feel like a gynaecologist because I had seen some of them being built!
My previous experiences have stood me in good stead and I have surveyed boats of many types from dinghies to Splitter Barges .an old iron North Sea Drifter and a Barquentine and operate all over Europe and vessels in GRP Steel Iron Wood and Aluminium
I have undertaken Insurance Investigations -once involving lock gates in France! Also as an Expert Witness in Civil and Criminal cases.
Through my membership of professional bodies I have an Association and Affiliation with many other organisations world w
My details are on my web site www.tdmarine.co.uk .
In my opinion communication and trust are paramount. The trust not only of your clients the courts but indeed your opponents. Failure to communicate is fatal
The trust of your opponents is also vital - its absence is of no benefit to your client.
