[Brief_CV] => Stephen Mooney is qualified by examination as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is a Chartered Insurance Broker. His experience over four decades with both brokers and consultants gives him a sound knowledge and understanding of general insurance. He has held senior appointments in major broking firms and was involved with servicing the insurance requirements of many businesses within the UK and Internationally. He also has a Health and Safety qualification with NEBOSH and is a member of ISOH. He is a full Member of the Academy of Experts.
Professional experience includes:
In the last ten years he has prepared many CPR compliant reports and/or letters of advice to solicitors in the UK. All of the cases so far have been civil except for one which advised the defence in criminal prosecutions of "ghost" insurance brokers. The Civil cases have varied in nature, but the common theme has been the actions of the broker and how they compare to what a reasonably competent broker would have done. He has given evidence in the high court in London in the case of <em>Dalamd Ltd v Butterworth Spengler Commercial Ltd</em> [2018] EWHC 2558 (Comm). He has been retained by many of the main insurance litigation law firms.
From 1981 to 2006 he focused on arranging insurance for a wide variety of commercial and corporate clients. From 2006 to date he has specialised in assessing brokers performance and implementing service agreements for corporate clients with their insurance brokers and providing expert witness advice to the courts.
During his career he advised and arranged appropriate insurance and risk management programmes for both publicly quoted and privately owned industrial and commercial companies in the UK and Internationally.
