construction projects. He works for Trett Consulting, an international consultancy specialising in
dispute resolution in the construction and oil and gas industries. Forms of Contract which Shaun has
extensive experience with are standard forms of construction contract such as FIDIC, ICE, East
African as well as bespoke forms such as World Bank and he has a detailed knowledge of PSA,
Concession Agreements and up and downstream agreements in respect of Oil & Gas.

Shaun is regularly appointed to advise clients on the most suitable method to resolve their disputes
and manage the process until a solution is either negotiated or reached formally which includes
working with clientÚs lawyers.

He is a listed expert with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, has completed the RICS
mediation training and the Dubai International Arbitration Centre practical arbitration skills course.

Shaun is a committee member of the Dubai branch of the CIArb and a past member of the RICS UAE
Construction Committee. He a tutor with the CIArb and a SPR and APC assessor with the RICS, a
published author and has been appointed as an expert on construction contracts and to act as an
independent to determine partyÚs obligations. His areas of expertise is contract and commercial
management, risk management and negotiation strategies.

Arbitration and Arbitration Support
Co-Arbitrator in an ad-hoc arbitration in respect of a dispute between a main contractor and a
subcontractor including drafting the final award with costs. Amount in dispute circa US$ 545,000.00
Liaising with ClientÚs lawyerÚs to jointly draft and issue a notice of arbitration to the RulerÚs Court in
order for the arbitral process to proceed. Upon the issue of this notice a settlement was reached.
Liaising with ClientÚs lawyerÚs in drafting and issuing a notice to proceed to adjudication, before
proceeding to arbitration, along with proposing suitable adjudicators.
Expert Appointments
Quantum expert in a DIAC arbitration in respect of non-payment for measured works, variations and
set-off for defective and uncompleted work, UAE. Amount in dispute circa US$ 5.5m.

Assisting in a quantum report in a DIAC arbitration in respect of valuing works done at the date of
termination for a major subcontractor, 5 star hotel & mixed use tower block, UAE. Amount in dispute
circa US$ 23m.

Advisor in a DIAC arbitration related to a cross country fuel line for the defence against an extension
of time claim, UAE. Amount in dispute circa US$31m.

Assisting in preparing a report as to the level of work completed before termination, due to
exceptional weather conditions. Sewerage Pump Station, Sewer/Drainage lines and manholes,
Muscat, Oman.
