Philippe focuses on independent expert witness work in Asia and Europe, in connection with investment banking matters - and especially equity (including IPOs, placements and equity-linked offerings) and debt capital markets transactions, as well as related proposed disciplinary / market misconduct action.

He has been instructed on behalf of investment banks, institutional investors, corporates, and securities regulators. He has been involved (and has testified) in numerous high-profile cases, including in both civil and criminal (Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK), regulatory enforcement (Hong Kong, Korea); and arbitration (HKIAC/SIAC) proceedings. He has also been involved in consulting assignments (Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore).

He was previously a senior (managing director) capital markets banker, working for almost two decades with UBS (originally with S.G.Warburg & Co. Ltd.), Macquarie, and Nomura. He has worked on approximately 140 corporate finance transactions throughout his investment banking career, including a wide range of privatisations on behalf of governments and private sector offerings.

Philippe was an honorary lecturer in the faculty of law of the University of Hong Kong for more than 12 years and is the author of six books on capital markets.

Between 2013 and 2022, he also served as an independent, non-executive director on the board of EnTie Commercial Bank Co., Ltd., a financial institution listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. He chaired the audit committee of that bank between 2016 and 2022 and, between 2013 and 2022 also served as a member of the compensation committee (and as chair of the compensation committee between 2013 and 2016).
