Paul has an MA from The Queen’s College Oxford and is a Freeman of the City of London and a Fellow of the Academy of Experts. He is also Chair of Airbus Investors Recovery Stichting, a Dutch non-profit Foundation which is a vehicle for a class action in the Netherlands.

    [Brief_CV2] => Paul Rex joined Chemical Bank from Oxford University in 1974. He was promoted to Vice President in 1982 and was responsible for the management of groups providing loans and other services to large multinational, shipping and commodity trading companies. 

He joined Crédit Agricole in 1988 as Corporate Banking and Finance division head for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Responsibilities included departments dealing with property finance; asset based lending and acquisition finance; project finance; commodity/trade financing, and corporate banking. The property related element of the loan portfolio totalled approximately £200 million.

In 1995, he established his own consultancy, GBRW Limited, with three colleagues. GBRW advises on banking issues worldwide.

Paul Rex is responsible for GBRWÚs expert witness activities. He has acted as a banking expert witness in more than 40 cases since 1993 and has dealt personally with a range of areas which include risk anaylsis, prudent lending and approval procedures, trade finance, property lending; relationships between banks and their professional advisers; practices in the syndicated loan market; reckless/negligent lending; and profit manipulation. He has given oral evidence in several cases,most recently VTB Europe Bank v KPMg Bohlins (2007) and Moravel Investments v Yuganskneftegaz (2006)

In June 2007, GBRW acquired the business of Intrabank Expert Witness, which now operates as GBRW Intrabank. Intrabank has particular strengths in its contacts with a wide range of legal firms and in the fields of retail banking and insurance. These complement GBRWÚs activities, which have tended to be more focused on City based firms and large corporate disputes.
