She specialises in forensic accounting, expert witness and dispute consulting services and has more than 40 years’ experience in the accounting profession and almost 30 years experience of expert witness work.

She is one of the UK’s most senior and experienced accounting, quantum and damages experts and has extensive experience of litigation, arbitration and ADR including mediation and expert determination.  Her experience includes financial investigations and dispute resolution services including early assessment, on-going support,  reporting, expert witness and testifying before courts and tribunals.  She also advises in alternative dispute resolution including mediation and expert determination and is regularly appointed as an independent determiner.

Kathryn has worked across a very wide range of industries and sectors and she has extensive experience in high value, high-profile and international cases involving accounting issues and/or complex calculations of loss and damages.

Kathryn has written hundreds of accounting and quantum reports and has testified on many occasions. She is particularly known for her keen analytical mind, her professionalism and her ability to adapt to clients’ needs.  Her extensive knowledge and wealth of experience enable her to provide robust testimony before courts and tribunals and to assist with successful and significant settlements outside the courts.

Kathryn’s case experience includes disputes arising from M&A transactions, joint ventures and shareholder disputes, completion accounts disputes, claims for breach of warranty, misrepresentation, breach of contract and loss of profit, competition matters, fraudulent accounting, regulatory investigations, professional negligence and insurance claims.

Kathryn has worked with law firms in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, Asia and the United States, on cases involving entities around the world.

Kathryn trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a predecessor of PwC, qualifying in 1979. In 1990 she joined BDO, where she became partner in 1995, she was an audit partner until 2005, later becoming that firm’s UK National Head of Forensic Accounting. She joined KPMG in 2010 where she was Chairman of KPMG Forensic in the UK until 2016.

Kathryn is a member of the Council (the ultimate governing body) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), past Chairman of the ICAEW’s forensic and expert witness special interest group, past Vice-Chairman of its Commercial Board and immediate past Chairman of the ICAEW’s Audit Committee

Kathryn is also an independent director on the board of the London Chamber of Arbitration and Mediation.

 I have provided forensic accounting services including litigation support and expert witness services since 1993.  I am also a Responsible Individual for audit purposes.
 
 I am regularly instructed as a party appointed expert, for claimants and for defendants, so that I have a broad perspective on the issues on both sides of a dispute. A large proportion of my work is advisory, in connection with pre- action communications, and I regularly assist parties in negotiations and mediation. 
 
 The cases in which I have been involved span various sectors and industries including telecommunications, IT, pharmaceutical, food, property, banking, advertising and media, shipping, manufacturing, wholesale, retail and consultancy. 
 I  have provided expert services in connection with a number of high profile and international disputes, often relating to claims of many millions of pounds.
 
 I am a Council member and Fellow of The Academy of Experts.
