Gerry Brannigan is a Partner and Forensic Technical Services (FTS) Growth Development Lead in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) for HKA. Gerry is part of a team of engineering, architecture, scientific, and technical specialists who provide expert witness and expert advisory services.Gerry Brannigan is a highly experienced expert witness in construction arbitration and disputes, specialising in building services engineering (MEP) and multi-disciplinary design management. Since 2012, Gerry has been appointed in over 50 disputes across Scotland, England, Ireland, Norway, UAE, Qatar, Australia, and the USA Federal Court. He has provided oral evidence in arbitrations, adjudications, and dispute adjudication boards, assisted in mediations, and given deposition testimony in the USA.
Gerry is widely recognised for untangling the complexity of major design issues on projects with significant MEP focus. Acting as lead expert, he coordinates multi-disciplinary teams to deliver clarity, consistency, and robust data management. His work addresses liability, design responsibility, scope development, performance issues, risk, professional duties, and systems failures, and includes providing technical analysis of delay events to support dispute resolution.
With a strong background in design engineering and project management, Gerry’s experience spans a wide range of projects, including residential developments, universities, healthcare facilities, high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, data centres, industrial facilities, commercial offices, museums, galleries, and airports. His technical expertise includes heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, controls, public health engineering, sustainability, and project planning, alongside deep knowledge of building physics, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance. He also has extensive experience in building planning, plant and distribution master planning, and anticipating design challenges before they escalate.
