Gerry Brannigan is a Partner and Forensic Technical Services (FTS) Growth Development Lead in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for HKA. Gerry is part of a team of engineering, architecture, scientific, and technical specialists providing expert witness and expert advisory services.Since 2012, Gerry has been appointed as an expert witness in building services engineering (MEP) over 50 times, often serving as the lead expert in multi-disciplinary construction disputes. He has provided oral evidence at arbitrations, adjudications, and dispute adjudication boards, assisted in mediations, and given a deposition in the USA.
Gerry\'s appointments span various jurisdictions, including Scotland, England, Ireland, Norway, UAE, Qatar, Australia, and the USA Federal Court. He has managed and coordinated multi-disciplinary expert teams on complex construction disputes, offering insights on liability, design responsibility, client scope, performance issues, risk, professional responsibility, design duties, contractor duties, systems failures, and delay factors.
With a background in design engineering and management, Gerry has experience with a wide range of buildings, including residential, universities, healthcare, high-rise, multi-use developments, data centres, industrial facilities, commercial offices, museums, galleries, and airports. His expertise in building services engineering encompasses heating, cooling, ventilation, air conditioning, controls, public health engineering, sustainability, and project planning. He is well-versed in building physics, energy efficiency, sustainability, building regulations, and user interaction with building performance. Gerry has skills and experience in project and design management, problem-solving, design quality, client briefing, scope development, site inspection, financial management, project programming, and interdisciplinary coordination on complex projects.
