Unlike many, he is able to benchmark standards and practice as a result of having managed the UK\'s largest IFA network and associated asset management and professional indemnity insurance companies.

In his role as director of the Tenet Group (which he co-founded) he established the standards by reference to which many thousands of advisers have operated and overseen their research and advisory standards for over 12 years.

He is knowledgeable in relation to research, portfolio design, product features and the services delivered to customers either face to face or online.

As a regulatory lawyer he has excellent knowledge of regulation and practice gained from many years overseeing complex businesses and dealing with the regulatory authorities, the FSCS and FOS. His recent work has included the liability of both advisers to, and promoters of, film partnerships, conflicts of interest relating to asset managers, overseas property investments (including the liability of both promoters and advisers under the FOS jurisdiction, liability of SIPP operators. His particular specialism is in Unregulated Collective Investment Schemes, (regulated and unregulated) and non-standard products generally.

His career has been based on an academic background including a Master\'s Degree in European Law which has enabled him to work at a senior level from a very early stage. Further experience includes being a Director of quoted Life Assurance Group, partner in Bond Pearce (now Womble Bond Dickinson) and Director of Tenet Group Ltd, the UK\'s largest IFA network. He has just completed 3 years as a non-executive director of the James Hay Partnership, one of the UK\'s leading pension providers. His brief was to improve and embed high regulatory and governance standards; his work contributed to the successful sale of the business to a private equity firm.

Memberships include Arbitration Club, Financial Services Lawyers Association, Association of Regulatory & Disciplinary Lawyers.

Experienced in giving evidence in Court and Tribunals. Consultant to law firms, asset managers, professional indemnity insurers, IFA networks and regulated firms. His recent experience includes the responsibilities of SIPP operators, Defined Benefit transfers, UCIS management and related regulatory requirements together with a criminal proecution of an electronic money institiution for money laundering offences.
