Expert Witness Snapshot
Euan Geddes is a chartered architect with over 30 years of industry experience specialising in commercial, retail, residential and industrial work. He is accredited by both the RIBA and RIAS as an expert witness and has experience in the preparation of expert reports for use in various forums, including adjudication, mediation, and litigation. He has been instructed as an expert architect on over 35 occasions and has been appointed as an adjudicator. Euan has testified in the High Court (TCC) and has actively participated in litigation, adjudication and mediation.He provides expert opinion on matters such as building defects, compliance with building standards, design, standards of workmanship, professional negligence, and contract administration.
Euan is currently Technical Director of Diales. He was previously a director of a commercial architectural practice for over 16 years with extensive experience as a job-running architect, responsible for the design and delivery of commissions throughout the UK. His experience covers all the RIBA Plan-of-Work stages, including architectural appointments, feasibility studies, scheme designs, statutory approvals, production information, detailed specification and report writing. Euan has acted as lead consultant and contract administrator throughout his career and is well acquainted with a variety of procurement routes.
Additionally, Euan is experienced in developing work packages for specialist architectural elements including envelope works such as stonework, metal cladding, rainscreen cladding, timber cladding, render, standing seam roofing, single ply roofing, brise soleil, windows, rooflights and curtain walling. He has experience of developing technical details and NBS specification as a job-running architect.
He sits on the Contracts Committee of the RIAS where he also provides practice support to members through RIAS Practice Services. He is the current Chair of the Scottish Building Contracts Committee (SBCC), a Director of the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT), a Board Director of the Architects’ Professional Examination Authority in Scotland (APEAS) and an Inquirer for the Architects Registration Board (ARB). He has lectured on Building Regulations at the Universities of Strathclyde and Dundee.
