[Brief_CV] => I am a Consultant Neuroradiologist with more than 20 years' experience in tertiary neuroscience centres. Following consultant appointments at Frenchay Hospital, Bristol, Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, and most recently Royal Derby Hospital, I now practise full-time in independent clinical and medico-legal neuroradiology.
I have undertaken medico-legal work since 2003 and currently prepare approximately 30–35 expert reports each year on behalf of both claimant and defendant solicitors, including firms acting for NHS Resolution. I have extensive experience in the preparation of CPR Part 35-compliant reports, joint expert discussions and joint statements, and have given oral expert evidence in courts in England, Scotland and Ireland.
My medico-legal practice encompasses complex clinical negligence litigation involving the interpretation and reporting of neuroimaging, delayed diagnosis, neuro-oncology, spinal pathology including cauda equina syndrome, cerebrovascular disease, traumatic brain and spinal injury, and other technically demanding neuroradiological issues. My reports are analytical, evidence-based and firmly grounded in contemporaneous standards of radiological practice, with careful consideration of both breach of duty and causation where appropriate.
I trained in neuroradiology in Manchester, Dublin and Newcastle between 1996 and 2000, gaining extensive experience in all aspects of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. I have a particular academic interest in advanced magnetic resonance imaging and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) by the University of Manchester for my thesis on perfusion imaging of brain tumours using dynamic susceptibility contrast MRI.
I have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including collaborative work in the New England Journal of Medicine, and have been recognised as a Distinguished Reviewer for the American Journal of Neuroradiology.
