    [Brief_CV] => David Satchell is the Managing Director and founder of Hong Kong-based Satchell and Associates.  Mr Satchell is a practicing Chartered Structural Engineer with over 26 years of structural engineering experience internationally including with Arup, Mott MacDonald and Aurecon.  

Mr Satchellâ??s key expertise relates to building structures including steelwork, reinforced concrete and post-tensioned concrete structures. Mr Satchell spent 7 years in London, most notably as the structural design representative for the long-span roof and feature arch of the Wembley National Stadium. 

Mr Satchell also has extensive experience in Vietnam, Macau and Hong Kong.  Recently, Mr Satchell was the lead structural engineer for the US$4B Wynn Palace in Macau which was completed in August 2016 and he continues to provide ongoing structural engineering to Wynn at both of its Macau properties (Wynn Palace and Wynn Macau).  Mr Satchell is currently delivering several major projects in Vietnam, including a 47-storey residential tower in Ho Chi Minh City and 2 no. 35-storey residential towers in Hanoi each of which have large basements and deep piled foundations in poor ground.

Mr Satchell has acted in several major arbitral tribunals and a pre-litigation review while undertaking specialist structural design advisory work including Due Diligence and Peer Review analyses.  Highlights include:

1.  US$240M Project, UAE
From August 2016 to July 2017, Mr Satchell acted as an Expert Witness on behalf of the Respondent for a multi-million-dollar dispute in relation to a landmark US$240M attraction in the UAE. The dispute covered a broad range of complex engineering issues.  

2.  US$100M Project, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
During 2016, Mr Satchell acted as an Expert Witness on behalf of the Respondent for a landmark US$100M commercial development in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.  The dispute related to the partial construction of the basement structure and the adequacy or otherwise of the associated water-proofing. 

3.  US$1B project in Astana, Kazakhstan
Mr Satchell has most recently been appointed as the Expert Witness on behalf of the Respondent for this mixed used US$1B project in Kazakhstan.   The dispute centres around the status of the basement construction.  

4.  US$20M Pedestrian Substructure Subway, Hong Kong
Mr Satchell was appointed by a leading international consultant to undertake a study of the structural design of a pedestrian subway substructure in Hong Kong as part of the consultantâ??s pre-litigation risk mitigation and preparation strategy.

5.  Studio City, Macau; Lendersâ?? Engineer
While working with Mott MacDonald, Mr Satchell acted as the structural engineering representative to Deutsche Bank AG to advise on the technical and commercial aspects of the construction of the â??Studio Cityâ?? resort in Macau completed in 2017.

6.  Independent Consultant for Sludge Treatment Facilities, Hong Kong
Also with Mott MacDonald, Mr Satchell acted as the Independent [Structural] Checking Engineer for the design of the worldâ??s largest sludge incineration facility.
