Mr Ashton is a former Partner in Arthur Andersen, retiring in June 2002. He joined LECG (later acquired by FTI) in September 2002.He graduated in Economics with Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics in 1970, joining Arthur Andersen in the same year, and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1973. Mr Ashton became a Partner in 1982.
Mr Ashton's responsibility has included both audit and financial consulting for a range of clients and industries.
Over the last thirty years he has specialised in claims consulting, and has produced numerous expert reports and given evidence many times on some of the most major disputes. He has also acted extensively as expert between parties in major expert determinations.
