Daniel Shear is a partner at Berg Kaprow Lewis LLP (BKL), where he heads up the Corporate Finance division. BKL is a top-50 firm of accountants and business advisers offering a broad range of professional services to owner-managed businesses.

Daniel has over 30 years professional experience. After graduating from Oxford University, he qualified as a chartered accountant with a Big 4 firm where he remained for nine years before moving to a boutique investment bank. At the Big 4 firm, Daniel was seconded to the litigation support division, gaining early experience of corporate disputes. He now acts as an expert witness in connection with valuations of shares in private companies supporting litigation.

Daniel became a partner at BKL in 2005. He is a member of the Valuation Group, Forensic Special Interest Group and the Corporate Finance Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and is the immediate past chairman of the corporate finance panel of the UK200Group.

BKL Corporate Finance is mainly involved in acquisitions and disposals of businesses between £1m and £20m. BKL Litigation Support offers a wide range of financial services to business owners, solicitors and barristers involved in litigation. Daniel has conducted a large number of business valuations for a variety of purposes, including valuing shareholdings pursuant to a broad range of cases in litigation, enabling shareholders to increase/reduce their holdings in companies, resolving shareholder disputes, providing probate valuations and valuing shares pursuant to divorce.

Daniel continues to provide advice on business valuations in a variety of legal proceedings. The services undertaken include providing valuation advice to instructing solicitors, compiling expert witness valuation reports, assisting in mediation, conducting meetings of experts and providing expert testimony on valuations in Court. Daniel understands his responsibilities under CPR Part 35 and FPR Part 25.
