He was approved in 1974 as a Deputy Controller in the Test House Organisation of the Materials Quality Assurance Directorate of the Ministry of Defence.
In 1982 the Company laboratories were among the first to become accredited under the then-new Government Laboratory Accreditation Scheme NATLAS (later NAMAS and now UKAS), which is monitored through the auspices of the National Physical Laboratory. Laboratory accreditation has been maintained ever since and is current.
