[Brief_CV] => I have more than forty five years experience as an insurance broker and consultant, including in-depth experience in the use and application of the regulatory Codes of Conduct and the procedures and practices of their application in day to day commercial insurance business. More specifically, regulations, including those set down by the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) and the FSA and FCA statutory regimes, in regard to broker placement, servicing, renewal or transfer of cover from one broker or insurer to another.

I have a special interest in Commercial Liability and Business Interruption insurance, as well as Commercial Property insurance and in the drafting of policy wordings.

In addition to my insurance broking activities and consultancy work, I have acted as an expert adviser/witness for the past nineteen years. Most importantly, much of my work has involved providing opinion on how defendant insurance brokers have acted with regard to accepted professional custom and practice as influenced by applicable regulations.  I am also Accredited by the Academy of Experts as a qualified Expert Determiner.

Typical cases I handle involve non-disclosure, misrepresentation and/or allegations that the broker failed to: properly assess client requirements or obtain material information; procure adequate cover; explain the scope of cover obtained; adequately advise on policy warranties, conditions or exclusions; provide adequate business interruption cover.

I hold the Cardiff University Certificate of Expert Witness Accreditation awarded after both examination and assessment. I regularly attend expert witness training events, insurance seminars and act as a Senior Consultant to Flaxman Partners Limited, consultants to British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA), advice on broker duties and associated regulatory issues.

      Some testimonials received:
"Carl is extremely "user-friendly" and understands the importance of deadlines in litigation. On top of that, his reports are clear, concise and right on point"
"Getting a good independent expert witness can be surprisingly difficult, but our experience of Carl has been positive. His reporting style is clear, independent and thorough and he is very "available" which is critical when faced with tight court deadlines. We would use him again in future Scottish litigations"
"CarlÚs key strengths lie in his ability to provide clear, reasoned and balanced advice and in the depth of knowledge he has for the subject. We were very happy with the written report he produced and were confident that he would have performed well under cross-examination had the case gone to trial. We will certainly use him again if the opportunity arises."
"We have instructed Carl Woodroffe on different occasions, to act as a single joint expert and as an adviser to one party to litigation. Carl is extremely thorough and his reports are well researched and balanced. He seems to have a very full knowledge of his chosen field. He keeps to deadlines and all his written work is very professionally presented. We can recommend him to anyone looking for an effective expert in the insurance field"
