Barry is a Practising Chartered Management Accountant whose extensive and comprehensive business experience enables him to accept instructions for forensic accounting work including fraud, money-laundering, proceeds of crime and confiscation; personal injury, loss of profits and earnings, professional negligence; business valuation, business interruption and consequential loss and family law. Barry has prepared court compliant reports for criminal and civil trials and has advised in relation to Proceeds of Crime and in family law has carried out financial investigations and provided advice in relation to Child Maintenance Service claims and appeals; Court of Protection and Continuing Healthcare. He has experience of testimony under oath in the Crown Court.
Barry’s business career has embraced multinationals, PLC’s, SME’s and family owned businesses in a wide range of industries including automotive, industrial textiles, building supply, human and pet food, plastics and financial services. His career has spanned a period during which business has undergone unprecedented change as a result of technological revolution, globalisation, financial deregulation and economic turmoil and Barry’s experience as a business manager over this time has been recognised with the Chartered Manager designation which is the highest grade of management recognition.
Barry has held CFO positions and has extensive experience of financial management and treasury; corporate planning and restructuring, due diligence and dealing with banks, lawyers, auditors and government bodies. Among his particular achievements have been merging three operating companies into a single trading business; turning around an unprofitable division; uncovering a major payroll fraud; working in association with the bank to incorporate post 2008 operating procedures; group reorganisation to improve tax efficiency and restructuring the directors’ pension fund to improve returns and accommodate changes to Lifetime Allowances. Barry has lectured to mature students studying for professional qualifications and presented financial appreciation courses to business executives.
For the last six years Barry has been engaged in part-time non executive roles providing advice to directors on strategy and governance and taking up a trustee role with a multi school academy. Barry’s membership of three chartered institutes ensures he complies with the highest professional and ethical standards.
