I began working within the construction industry in 1984, I am experienced in Site Operations, Health & Safety Management, Project Management, Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying (alleged defects) & Dispute Resolution.

My recent appointments as an expert include;

  • analysis of delays and the resulting quantum on a nuclear power generation project.

  • a criminal prosecution regarding several properties in the Plymouth area the subject of alleged fraudulent activity.

  • a new build property in Cornwall requiring an assessment as to the value of various defects.

  • a central London housing development requiring an assessment as to the final account.

  • a commercial development in North Somerset requiring an opinion as to the valuation of various statutory undertakings.

  • a central London property requiring an opinion as to the value of rectification works relating to a water leak.

  • a property in South Bristol the subject of defective workmanship and alleged overcharging.

  • a property in West London the subject of defective workmanship and alleged overcharging.

  • a property in North London the subject of defective workmanship and alleged overcharging.

  • a property in South West Wales requiring an opinion in relation to the value of an external works refurbishment and defects in connection with the doors and windows installed within the property and external security vehicular gates.

During my career to date, I have been involved in more than 300 construction contracts for types of work that include.

Grade 1 & 2 listed building alteration & restoration; fire-damaged building protection, assessment and reconstruction; public sector building work including schools, colleges, universities, hospices, hospitals, health centres, surgeries; defence establishments; food production facilities & abattoirs; public houses/restaurants; municipal buildings; housing schemes (public and private sectors, low & medium-rise); industrial and commercial schemes including offices, factories and warehousing; retail and leisure schemes including shops, hotels and sports stadia, building reactive and planned maintenance programmes.

I have experience in managing and complying with Planning Conditions, Building Regulations, NHS HTM’s, BREEAM & the Code for Sustainable Homes.

I am experienced in working under JCT, NEC, RIBA, ACA & GC/Works Form’s of Contract and related standard forms of sub-contract. I also have experience of working with measured term, prime contract & framework agreements.

I am experienced in using Estimating & Project Management Software, including ConQuest, Masterbill, Asta-PowerProject, MS-Project and the Microsoft Office suite of applications, including MSAccess Database.
